High Power Rocketry
In 2005 I got turned onto rocketry. I’d tinkered a bit years ago, but never done it very seriously. I joined SoJARS, the local model rocketry club. There I met Phil, who showed some interest in the sorts of unconventional projects I wanted to do (such as Jujubee). The first thing he said about them was, “You’re gonna have to go to High Power.” So, here I am.
I’ve recently started experimenting with making rocket propellant using Ammonium Nitrate, and took John Wickman’s class in Wyoming on making amateur rocket motors (fantastic class, I can’t say enough good things about it). I’ve recently spent a fair amount of time lately working on developing some simulation software in order to help me design what I hope to be one of the first (perhaps even the first) amateur ramjet-propelled vehicles to actually fly. All of these things (along with the Jujubee work) are actually just stepping stones in a much larger project, hopefully eventually resulting in a highly capable guided rocket.
